지난 화요일 샘물을 다녀가셨던 김동호 목사께서 영어로, 한글로 샘물(특히 전동 침대의 필요성)에 대한 소개글을 올리셨습니다. 같이 공유하는 것이 좋을 것 같아 여기 올립니다. 

Is Saemmul Hospice Hospital a free hospital?

After visiting Saemmul Hospice Hospital yesterday, I started a fundraising campaign to replace the electric bed. Thankfully, many people are responding. However, a friend left a comment asking if Saemmul Hospice Hospital is a free hospital. I think that is a very important question. I thought that the question meant that if it is a paid hospital, it is not right to collect donations to replace the bed.

Saemmul Hospice Hospital is not a free hospital. It is a paid hospital. However, it is not a hospital established for profit, but for missionary work. Saemmul Hospital and several large churches invested in it, bought the land, built the building, and it is still operated with donations from many churches and sponsors every month.

I was curious (since I will likely have to come in next time) so I asked how much the monthly hospitalization fee is. It was less than 1 million won. There were single, double, and triple rooms, and the doctor decided which one to use based on the patient's condition, but the hospitalization fee was the same regardless of the room. Also, the patient's guardians and visitors ate at the restaurant every day, and the cost was free.

Samul Hospice Hospital is not a free hospital, but a paid hospital, and strictly speaking, it is a deficit hospital. It was not designed as a deficit hospital because it was not well managed, but from the beginning. It is a deficit hospital established for the purpose of taking good care of those who are spending their last 28 days (average) in this world and their families, and also to spread the gospel to them so that they can be saved.

There are about 60 patients at Samul Hospice Hospital, but it seems that approximately 300-400 patients change their fates here every year. Half of them do not believe in Jesus, but many of them have accepted Jesus here, and not only them, but their families have been moved and come to believe in Jesus while they were in the hospital for a month. When I see this, I think it is the most powerful missionary tool in these times when the door to evangelism is closed.

Since Saemmul Hospice Hospital was designed as a deficit hospital from the beginning, we kept putting off replacing the expensive electric beds until we came to this point. It is inconvenient for the caregivers, volunteers, and guardians, but when I think about how difficult it must have been for the patients who find even a single dusty dust heavy and burdensome, I want to change it as soon as possible. So please do not feel burdened (why should I sponsor the cost of replacing a bed at a paid hospital?) and please support us, even if it is just a little bit, with a happy heart.

The target amount is 61.5 million won (for 41 units), and it has not even been a day since we started collecting, but it seems that about 25% of the target amount has already been achieved. I think you should hurry a little bit(?) to participate in this precious work.^^

샘물호스피스병원은 무료병원인가요?

제가 어제 샘물호스피스병원을 다녀 온 후 전동침대 교체를 위한 모금 켐페인을 시작했습니다. 감사하게도 많은 분들이 호응해 주시고 계십니다. 그런데 어떤 친구분 한 분이 댓글로 샘물호스피스병원이 무료 병원이냐는 질문을 해 주셨습니다. 매우 중요한 질문이라고 생각합니다. 유료병원이라면 침대교체를 위해 후원금을 모으는 일이 정당하지 않은 것이 아닌가 하는 의미의 질문이시라고 생각했습니다.

샘물호스피스병원은 무료병원이 아닙니다. 유료병원입니다. 그런데 영리를 위하여 세운 병원이 아니라 선교를 위하여 세운 병원이라는 것입니다. 샘물병원과 몇몇 큰 교회가 투자해서 부지도 사고 건물도 지었고 지금도 매월 많은 교회와 후원자들의 후원금으로 운영하고 있는 병원이었습니다.

제가 궁금해서 (저도 이 다음에 들어와야 할 가능성이 높기 때문에) 한 달 입원비가 얼마인가를 물었습니다. 백 만원이 채 되지 않았습니다. 병실도 1인실이 있고 2인실과 3인실이 있었는데 그것은 환자의 상태에 따라 의사가 결정해서 사용하게 되는데 병실과 상관없이 입원비는 동일했습니다. 그리고 환자의 보호자와 방문객들이 매일 식당에서 식사를 하는데 그 비용도 다 무료라고 했습니다.

샘물호스피스병원은 무료병원이 아니고 유료병원인데 엄밀히 말하면 적자 병원입니다. 운영이 잘 안 돼서 적자병원이 된 것이 아니라 처음부터 설계를 적자병원으로 설계한 것입니다. 이 세상에서의 마지막 28일(평균)을 보내시는 분들과 가족들을 잘 보살피고 뿐만아니라 저들에게 복음을 전하여 구원 얻게 하기 위한 목적으로 세운 적자병원인 것이지요.

샘물호스피스병원에는 약 60명 정도의 환우분들이 계시는데 대략 일 년에 3-400명 정도의 환자분들이 이곳에서 운명을 달리하신다고 보면 될 것 같습니다. 그 분들 중에 절반은 예수를 믿지 않는 분들인데 많은 분들이 이곳에서 예수를 영접하시게 되고 그 분들 뿐 아니라 한 달 남지 병원에 있는 동안 그 가족들이 감동을 받아 예수를 믿는 분들이 많다는 것을 보면 요즘 같이 전도의 문이 막혀(?)있는 이 때에 가장 강력한 선교의 도구가 아닌가 싶습니다.

샘물 호스피스 병원은 적자 병원으로 처음부터 설계 된 병원이기 때문에 많은 비용이 들어가는 전동침대 교체를 차일피일 미루다가 여기까지 오게 되었습니다. 간병인들과 봉사자 그리고 보호자들의 불편함도 불편함이지만 먼지 하나도 무겁고 버거우실 환자분들은 얼마나 힘드셨을까를 생각하면 한시라도 빨리 바꿔드리고 싶은 마음입니다. 그러니 마음에 부담 갖지 마시고( 왜 유료병원 침대교체비를 후원해야 하나?) 편하신 마음으로, 기쁜 마음으로 조금씩이라도 후원해 주시기를 다시 한 번 부탁드립니다.
